The Call

Just a piece of paper? Yes and No. One of the wonderful things about Lutheran theology is that we affirm in the Scriptures that God uses means. For those who have received calls, they receive them from actual congregations made up of flesh and blood people. The Call is not just a deep feeling. God uses congregations to call into the ministry. When a pastor picks up this piece of paper, he sees that God indeed has called him from times of great doubt to the deep joy of announcing forgiveness to a troubled sinner. Praise God that he works through means.
