From the rising of the sun to its setting... (Psalm 113:3)

As we now celebrate Epiphany, one of the great themes is light. Christ has manifested himself as the Light of the World, to which the magi were led by a star. While neither this piece nor the verse is specifically related to the biblical light of revelation, it still emphasizes the praise of our Lord who saves us. He is always deserving of our praise for His great mercy.

This is a mixed media piece that I did as a gift for my parents. Everything radiates from the central sun. It was fun to see that the phrase "From the rising of the sun to its setting" could be placed in the middle and allow "The Name of the Lord is to be praised" to radiate from that center point of the word "sun." At some point, I may attempt a digital graphic of the same theme and work with it a little more. I used art marker, metallic paint markers, fine line marker, white gel pen, gold leaf, and silver leaf.
